End of Lease Cleaning Checklist

The best way to get your full bond back is to hand over the rented property as fresh as you moved in. Personally cleaning the whole house could be hard but hiring the amateurs could be worse. One must do a full inquiry on the company and then hire the professional for vacate cleaning.

What is the real estate’s end of lease cleaning checklists?

Many people are unaware of what to expect or what’s expected of them from the inspection cleaning and should plan. Here are some of the checklists.

  • Sweep and vacuum the floors and every corner. Clear the cobwebs. Wipe out the marks from the wall, fix dents and repaint if necessary. Maintain the provided appliances and furniture. Clean the dirt from lights, wipe all the windows ledges. Clean the windows and doors inside out. Empty the cupboards and drawers and wipe clean. Wipe out the dust and oil marks from the exhaust hood, extractor fan, benches, and cooking areas. Pull out from the refrigerator and clean behind and underneath. Wipe the sink, taps, and remove wastages from drains. Clean the dishwasher from inside and outside. Remove foods from the filter and rinse.
  • Clean all the mirrors in the bathroom, wipe the marks. Clean the basin, tiles, and taps. Scrub and disinfect toilet seat inside out. Wipe down showerheads, soap holder, towel holder, clear the wastages, mop the floor and let dry.
  • Clean the yard, trimming trees, and sweeping paved areas. Remove the cobwebs and sweep down the veranda. Maintain garage and pool areas. Manage all the garbage.

As per the laws, the property must be reasonably clean but allow wear and tear. Damages other than wear and tear are the responsibilities of tenants. The property manager could take your bond repayment to pay for cleaning. If one cannot differentiate on wear and tear or negligence of tenants, they can refer to NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. In general, cut-and-dry decide what constitutes fair wear and tear. In NSW, the damage that occurs due to negligent or irresponsible actions can be counted as tenant responsibility.

Wear and tear is a result of aging. The landlord must fix then on their expenses. Walking around the property, wear and tear tenants are not responsible for are

  • Paints coming off the wall
  • Fading curtains and carpets
  • Pale wooden floors
  • Dysfunctional sliding doors, door creaking sounds.

The landlord is responsible for inspecting and taking care of these wear and tear damages.

Cleaning the house daily could be easier at the end of the lease else move-in cleaning is going to be tedious. You have to hire the professionals, cleaning personally may be a problem. Professionals may charge for the service but save your time and effort. But if in rush you hire unprofessional cleaners, you may suffer. Unprofessional cleaners may charge more than normal, wasting time with inadequate cleaning. Also may lead to broken glass, windows, improper cleaning, stains, dents, bad management, and many more that can cost you more.
